Overview

During this nine-day water management themed Journey, you will learn about the Netherlands' history with floods and wet feet in a country that is partially situated below sea-level. There are two main themes you will learn about:

  • Safety, in all its forms, from our dune system along the sea to the dikes along several large rivers and lots of rain during the year. How do we keep our feet dry?
  • Cleanliness, in regards to both drinking water and water pollution. How can we assure clean water, not just in the Netherlands but worldwide?

Home Hospitality

There is no traditional homestay during this Journey because of the extensive travel all over the country. Optional post-Journey extension has home hospitality provided by the Friendship Force club of the Netherlands or Belgium..

Live With a Local

  • Although there is no traditional homestay during this Journey (due to the fact that we have to travel over all the country), we offer the option to extend your stay for three days with one of the clubs in the Netherlands or Belgium. The cost of this extension is approximately $80 USD per person.
  • You will enjoy a program filled with information, but also with time to relax and the opportunity to meet new friends from all over the world.
