This Friendship in Action Journey gives ambassadors the opportunity to get to know two African host clubs while also spending time with local children at a school established during a previous FF Journey! You will have a six-day homestay with FF Bujumbura, followed by five days with FF Nairobi, and then you will depart on a world-class safari at Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru in the Rift Valley of Kenya. You will see lions, rhinoceros, buffalo, zebra, wildebeests, giraffes, cheetahs, flamingos, and more!

Home Hospitality

Home Hospitality provided by the Friendship Force clubs of Bujumbura and Nairobi.

Live With a Local

  • The Journey begins with a six-day homestay in Bujumbura, the capital city, with one million inhabitants, several universities, hospitals, clinics, a zoo, and other interesting features. Experience the rich lifestyle, foods, drumming, and dances – and very warm hospitality!
  • See a successful English school in the heart of Africa that is the direct result of a Friendship Force Journey, FF Edmonton & Area, Canada to Burundi. You will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with students. The Burundi English School began with Kindergarten and Grade 1 in 2008 and has now grown to 214 students from Kindergarten to Grade 11
  • Then enjoy a five-day homestay with members of FF Nairobi. Learn about the food and culture of your Kenyan hosts as you take part in a fascinating program designed to give you a view of everyday life in Kenya

Feb. 1, 2020

Depart Nairobi City and drive through the scenic view of the Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve. This enormous reserve is actually part of the vast Serengeti Plains, famously known for its great wildebeest migration and is home of the “big five”: lions, elephants, leopards, buffalo, and rhinos

Arrive in time for lunch at the Lodge, check in and relax before departing for the afternoon game run

The Mara Game Reserve is one of the greatest wildernesses areas in the world. Large mammals are varied, and easy to see, with giraffes, buffalo, elephants, and thousands of plain game including impala, zebra, topi, and gazelles

Overnight at Mara Keekorok Lodge

Lunch & dinner included

Feb. 2, 2020

After an early morning breakfast, the search for great predators and perhaps even cubs continues today during extensive game runs. On the plains are enormous herds of grazing animals, plus the elusive cheetah and leopard hiding amidst Acacia boughs. Masai Mara remains one of the most exciting wildlife ecosystems in the world

The reserve hosts the highest concentration of wild animals per square kilometer of any park in the region. The scenic appeal of this tree-studded savannah, its modest temperatures, and diversity of wild game species makes the reserve a one-stop-shop for game viewing

We shall transverse the reserve on unlimited game viewing drives in search of the big five and more species of lesser game

Our mid-day meal will either be a picnic or at the Lodge

Dinner and overnight at Keekorok Lodge

Breakfast, lunch & dinner included

Feb. 3, 2020

After breakfast today we travel to the exotic Lake Nakuru National Park located in the Great Rift Valley

Check in and lunch, followed by an exciting game run in the afternoon. The game in this park is plentiful and the magnificent bird-watching will make a devotee out of even the most reluctant. The Park is a home to stunning flocks of flamingos, which literally turn the lakeshores in to a magnificent pink stretch

The bird life here is world-renowned, with over 400 bird species residing here, including White Pelicans, Plovers, Egrets and Marabou Stork. It is also one of the very few places in Africa to see the White Rhino and rare Rothschild Giraffe

Overnight at Sarova Lion Hill

Lunch & Dinner included

Feb. 4, 2020

Our day starts with an early breakfast followed by a game drive where you can see thousands of flamingos along the shallow edges of Lake Nakuru. We will also see pelicans and hundreds of other bird species
