- You will be home-hosted by the Whangarei and New Plymouth Friendship Force clubs.
- Included is an overnight trip to the Bay of Islands and Waitangi where ambassadors will learn about the signing of The Treaty of Waitangi between Maori & Pakeha in 1840
- Between hosting weeks, ambassadors will spend three days in Rotorua. There will be an opportunity to look at Whakawerawera Village, a traditional Maori village, and the Maitai Village for a show and the traditional Hangi meal in the evening
- Visit a back-country sheep station with lunch in the woolshed, followed by a shearing demonstration and talk about the day-to-day running of the Station

Travel by Ferry to Russell, NZ with early NZ history everywhere
Travel to Kaitaia for the night

Cape Reinga Tour
Travel by bus along 90 Mile Beach (actually 54 miles)
where you will see many attractions & hear about the history
Arrive at Cape Reinga and visit the lighthouse
Watch the Pacific Ocean & Tasman Sea meet
The Maori believe after death, their spirit travels along pathways back to their homeland of Hawaiki-A-Nui
Return back to Whangarei in the evening

Activities may include:
One-day bus tour around the Mountain to South Taranaki
Visiting Tawhiti Museum with Whalers and Traders. (It has won the Gold Medal Award for NZ)
Visit Opossum and Merino Products shop for some retail therapy time
Visit Cape Egmont lighthouse and see the Taranaki Coast Guard boat
Mayoral Reception one morning in the New Plymouth District Council board room

A mountain guide (FF member) will lead you on a short walk up on Mt. Egmont/ Taranaki, There will probably be snow up higher but we hopefully won’t be in it

Our Rhododendron Garden Spectacular starts on Friday, October 25th, where, for 10 days, there are around 60-70 gardens open to the public. We will take you to visit some of them
Also, visit the Bowl of Brooklands, like the Hollywood Bowl only better
Visit and tour of Tupare historic home with its 8 acres of beautiful gardens
We will show you some of the oil & gas sites in Taranaki
Enjoy dinners at night with other members in their homes
Ambassadors depart on the 27th
$1850 USDPrice Includes: FFI and host fees, one night at a hotel in Auckland, transportation, one week in Whangarei including a hotel overnight at the northern tip of the North Island, a two-night stay in Rotorua (hotel, transportation, admissions, gondola, Maori Hangi), transportation to New Plymouth for a week-long homestay, and transportation to Auckland airport.

- Journey number 15240.
- October in New Zealand is spring. Layered clothing, sun protection, rain jacket, and walking shoes are a must.
- Expect to walk 2-3 miles per day. The host clubs have provided mobility forms so that ambassadors know what to expect.
- Entry requirements for New Zealand changed on July 1. The Journey coordinators will send more specific information upon acceptance for this Journey.
