Admire Chicago's architectural style evolution over the course of the city's history on this Journey that will have you appreciating the artistic details of everything from classical to ultra-modern!

Home Hospitality

Home Hospitality provided by the Friendship Force club of Northern Illinois.

Live With a Local

  • Experience examples of architecture of different periods in Chicago's history, including Beaux-Arts (classic revival), Art Deco, Prairie Style, Modernist, and Post-Modern. We will see skyscrapers, apartment buildings, family homes, houses of worship, public buildings, and an amazing park.
  • Enjoy the companionship and personal stories of long-time residents of the Chicago area, including both urban and suburban locations.
  • Learn about Chicago's history from a frontier trading post and fort to the ashes of a fire, the fantastical "White City" of a World's Fair, and to a major world-class city of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
  • Architecture is the key to Chicago's development. We will tour the recently opened Chicago Architecture Center and participate in several of the Center's walking tours and river cruise.
