Enjoy the majesty of the Sunshine Coast, Australia! This Journey highlights the outdoor lifestyle utilizing beautiful ocean beaches and water ways, rainforests and trails, as well as heritage, culture, and unique flora and fauna. Activities will include scenic walks, coastal cycling, surfing, kayaking, canoeing, bush walking, and mountain biking. Leisure day activities will permit ambassadors to select from a wide range of activities that suit their individual interests with opportunities to visit the world-famous Australia Zoo, Sea Life Marine Aquarium, go birdwatching with experts, or just chill out at the beach. Most importantly, ambassadors will have many opportunities for engaging and socializing with FF Sunshine Coast club members, including those who may be unable to undertake many of the scheduled activities.

Stroll around headland – (easy walk)

Cycling on the coastal path
Sightseeing tour past numerous beaches and lookouts (approximately 15km, avg. cycling speed 13km/hr, mostly flat)
Coffee (of course!)
Tour the coastal lakes and canals (15km)
Lunch by the lake
Exchange bike for a kayak and paddle on the saltwater lake, being introduced to ecological features of the system (2.5 hours total)

Baroon Pocket Dam to Kondalilla
This walk is listed as one of the most beautiful hikes in SE QLD and a prominent feature of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk. This 10km section includes great views of the Baroon Pocket Dam, Obi Obi Creek, Upper and Lower Kondalilla Falls
The walk offers a good mix of open sclerophyll eucalypt forest and subtropical rainforest. Spotting wallabies & kangaroos is possible, but unlikely. However, there are usually a variety of birds around
(10 km, 400m of elevation, medium fitness at least, some steep sections/steps)
Optional: Walk Flaxton Mill Rd to Baxter Falls to Mapleton

Wetlands Cruise and Canoe
The trip starts with a cruise over lake Cootharaba before entering Australia’s Everglades. First stop is at Fig Tree Point where you will board your canoe – then paddle upstream in your classic Canadian style canoe through ancient landscapes, mirrored waterways and sub-tropical rainforest
Enjoy a delicious morning tea prepared by your tour guide in the tranquil surrounds of historic Harry’s Hut
After morning tea, experience the magnificent wonders of the Everglades recognized as one of the most spectacular canoeing adventures in Australia – a place you MUST see to believe
Enjoy a leisurely river cruise with your tour group back to ‘habitatnoosa’ where a delicious roast lunch awaits you
Explore with hosts the northern areas of the Sunshine Coast – Noosa and surrounds

$725 USDPrice Includes: FFI and host fees, bus transfers (pickup and departure to and from Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, and the wetlands cruise departure site), all meals except one lunch, all equipment hires and delivery – including quality mountain bikes, kayaks, and bodyboards.
Know before you go
- Be prepared for warm, sunny days (26°C/ 78°F).
- Bring a suitable hat and sunscreen for outdoor activities and insect repellant for bushwalks.
- Activity Level: 3/4 - At least medium fitness
- Walk/Talk/Smile 11km (400m altitude gain) on formed bushwalking trails with steps and some steep sections.
- Cycle on a mountain bike – 20 km at a leisurely pace on formed shared cycle/foot paths.
- Ride mountain bike 20km on relatively flat forest trails and well-formed flowing single tracks.
- Kayak/canoe at a leisurely pace in sheltered waters for 2.5hrs
- Smile/laugh while surfing in the beautiful warm Pacific Ocean lapping spectacular beaches.
- Note: All activities can be paced to cater for varying abilities from OK/medium to expert.
