About the club
The Friendship Force of Saitama became independent from Tokyo Club in 1992. Among 57 members of our club, more than half of them live in Saitama City and about a third of our members live in Saitama Prefectre. The other members live in Tokyo Greater Metropolitan Area. Our club usually accepts one or two foreign clubs a year and visits two foreign clubs a year. When we welcome foreign clubs to Saitama, we are often called “well-organized.” Our club members are very active. Most of us act voluntarily. We are trying to hold some meeting or event every month to keep our members interested in our activities.
About the region
Saitama Prefectire is located in the north of Tokyo. Saitama has good access to Tokyo, a rich traditional culture and quiet environment. The population of Saitama City is 1.2 million, and the population of Saitama Prefecture is about 7 million, the fifth largest prefectre in Japan. We are proud of “Hina” dolls, one of the fascinating Japanese paper – “Ogawa” paper – and world famous “Bonsai” village. We are pretty close to Nikko, UNESCO’s world heritage, which is about 100 km north of Saitama City.
About the Journey
Among a week-stay in Saitama, we usually hold a welcome party, farewell party and one-day bus tour (for example, to Nikko). During the three free days, ambassadors can have their choice of ways to see Saitama. We usually propose some free day plans for ambassadors. Cost is usually US$150 which covers two parties and a bus tour. For free day plans, ambassadors have to pay extra. Usually they cost 2,000 yen~3,000 yen each at most.
