About the club
In May 2016, our club celebrated 25th anniversary. As the president of FF Kaohsiung, I am lucky to lead a club in which members are very friendly and hospitable as a harmonious family. We have been very active with outbound Journeys at least once a year, and have hosted more than twice inbound. We have great teamwork for both of the preparation in advance and when the programs are going on.
Besides the involvement with FFI, we also enjoy a year-end party each year, Fan Dance practice, Tai chi practice, home tea or coffee parties, singing Karaoke, and more. Planning together for FFI activities is also a big help in the growth and development of the friendships inside the club and among those who have had Journeys with us.
Our club members always welcome you to join us and get to know each other better to create a more peaceful and happier world!
About the region
FFI Kaohsiung is located in the south of Taiwan, a beautiful harbor city among the top 10 in Asia. Love River is one of the landmarks, which is always included in our program. Long Life Mountain is in the north which provides a fabulous city view. A city with 2.7 million inhabitants, Kaohsiung is well known for its well-organized infrastructure. Public transportation with subway, buses, railway, and airplanes is convenient for getting in and out. Lots of cars, scooters, and bikes on roads are of systematically controlled disorder. Spring and winter are our two lovely seasons – great times for a visit!
About the Journey
A week of journeying in Kaohsiung is more than expected! You may either fly directly to Kaohsiung International Airport or to Tao Yuan International Airport, and take a shuttle bus to HSR (High Speed Railway) station (NT$30 = US$1), or a bullet train to Kaohsiung, Zouying station (US$40). Our hosts will be meeting you either at the airport or at the HSR station and take you home. The day you arrive, we host a welcome party at a lovely place, usually at a club member’s building, depending on the number of visiting group. For two or three days, you will be taken by tour bus to Kenting National Park, National Museum of History in the old capital city, Tainan, and the famous Buddha Memorial Museum – the biggest one in Asia. You stay with your host every night.
For tour bus fare and entrance fees, you will be charged another US$70 besides the Host Program fee US$150. We may take you to City Hall, or City Council, or a school for you to do interact with students. You will enjoy taking a ferry boat to an island or a yacht cruise in the harbor to HongMaoKang Culture Village. Beautiful sunset and fresh seafood dinner is the final touch of the day!
Various delicious Chinese and Taiwanese food is what you will taste for the experience of local meals. You may be invited to a home for breakfast or dinner or playing majong after coffee or tea, or to sing Karaoke. Your host may take you to their relatives’ or friends’ homes for you to get to know more about the local people. You may be taken to the parks nearby, art museums, a lotus pond, Confucius Temple or shopping malls by your host or day host as well. An unforgettable farewell party will be prepared at the conclusion of your beautiful Journey!
