v      About the region:  ClevelandCounty is adjacent to the coast and the countryside - many of the region's charms are well kept secrets.   Within close proximity lie the North York Moors, the Yorkshire Dales, The Vale of York and The Lake District.  You will find lots that is  both historic and picturesque - Durham Cathedral and Castle together form a World Heritage Site, the walled City of York and Minster, the old fishing Port of Whitby  with many more coastal villages.  There are Castles and ruined Abbeys  (Castle Howard, RabyCastle, Rievaulx, Jervaulx and Fountains Abbeys to name a few).   Harrogate and Scarborough are old established Spas and Resorts and within easy travelling distance. We have magalithic monuments far older than Stonehenge; every invader of Britain from the Romans onward has left their marks here. The region was the cradle of the railways - George Stephenson was a local lad; another local lad was the famous explorer Captain James Cook.

v      About the exchanges:  Our programme generally includes 2 coach tours, a welcome party, civic reception, visits to local places of historical interest and a farewell party with entertainment (such as a Ceilidh).  Additional costs payable by Ambassadors:  All Entrance Fees.
