v      About the club:  Our club has been in existence since 1984 and has nearly 55 members made up of couples and single people.  Devon is a large county and the club draws its members mainly from East and South Devon.

v      About the region:  Devon is located in the Southwest of England between Somerset and Cornwall.  It is an area of outstanding natural beauty with quaint villages and many thatched cottages.  We have a huge coastline and many beaches in the holiday resorts of Exmouth, Teignmouth, Sidmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Torquay etc. The coast to the east of Exmouth has been designated a World Heritage site and is now know as The Jurassic Coast because of the many fossils which have been discovered there.Inland we have two major NATIONAL PARKS.  In the north east is ExmoorNational Park and in the centre and west one finds Dartmoor. These are vast areas of wild moorland over 500 meters high in places, offering spectacular views. Here one can see the famous wild Dartmoor ponies. The two major cities are Plymouth and Exeter. Plymouth has always been a major center for the British fleet and it was from here and along the Devon Coast that thousands of British and allied ships sailed as part of the invasion fleet in 1944.Exeter is an old Roman town; parts of the Roman wall are still intact to this day.Our Guildhall is the oldest one still regularly used in England. It was built in 1284.The Cathedral is thought by many to be the most beautiful in the world. It has recently been cleaned and renovated and looks as good as it did when it was built in the 14th Century. There are so many wonderful things to see in our area. There's something for everybody.

v      About the exchange: The climate is mild; there are palm trees growing in Torbay which is known as the English Riviera. We can't be sure it won't rain but we can be sure the sun will shine sometime and we'll have lots of laughs. Devon is major tourist area in England so we like to host our Ambassadors in May or June  or mid September through October when the holiday makers have gone home. We aim to have two incoming exchanges per year . We always arrange a welcome party and a farewell party , plus a bus trip as part of the exchange. We really do look forward to meeting you
