v      About the club: Our  FFI CLUB  is Non Governmental Organization (NGO)  in  Azerbaijan.It is big -about 150 families. Age 20-75 years old.Most  of the members of our club are not retired,  they go to work every day. Most of our members are English teachers.

v      About the region: We usually offer 2 weeks hosting  to our friends: one week -Baku, the other week-Sheki Baku is the capital of Azerbaijan.It is located  on the western shore of the Caspean Sea and the eastern tip of Azerbaijan The capital Baku , is home to about one-third of the country's eight million people. Azerbaijan borders Russia, Iran, Georgia, Armenia, Turkey. Humans are inhabited the Caucasus region for at least 200.000 years.Azerbaijan has a long complex history.Since its existence every time enemies attacked to get its area because of its rich  natural resourses.Even now 20 %of our territory have been occupied by Armenian invaders. But these days it's looking  toward  to a potentially bright future.The country rests on an estimated 31 billion barrels of oil and 4 trillion cubic meters of gas.The name Baku can mean a place where the winds strike hard.The climate of Baku is subtropical.The temperature  for January is 33.8F(1C) and  in July 82.4F(28C).Baku's annual temperature is 57.92(14.4C)Baku is located in Absheron Peninsula  .The inhabitants of Baku are known for their longevity.In 1985, for instance, there were 1400 persons over the age of 90 and 120 persons over the age of 100 in the city.

v      About a typical exchange to our club: The first week we host our friends in Baku. Every day our program begins at 9 ends at 9 pm or 10pm.Baku  is an ancient city, so we have lots of places of interest to show our friends.They are:Shirvanshakh's Palace(AD 1400s) ensemble  which harks to the days when  Baku was the capital of the mighty Shirvanshakh, Maiden Tower(eight storey fortress), Ateshgah(the Fire Worshippers' Temple), Mardakan flower garden, Sengachal Oil Terminal, Museum of Applied Art, Carpet museum,Baku boulevard,Opera and Ballet Theatre, Inner City(one can see shops of antiques and carpets).We take our friends to ship trip.There are many restaurants in our city, we take our friends to the restaurants too.We arrange  nice Welcome and Goodbye PARTIES  for our friends.We take friends to the concert where our national singers sing beautifully.We take our friends to holy place-Mir Mohsun  Aga Mosque where they can pray  .Our friends  will visit Gobustan  open air Museum,littered withNeolithic rock drawings, just 65 km(40mi)south of Baku Gobustan has some 4000 inscriptions that go back 12.000 years. Next week we take our friends to Sheki, which is located 380 km to the west of Baku.  Sheki is set in a picturesque mountain area rich in narrow gorges and green valleys, springs purest rivers, waterfalls and mineral water springs framed by dense. Woods and alpine meadows.The city is considered one of the oldest settlements in the Caucasus; many findings on its territory are dated as old as 2500 years. The city has many historical places of interest. but its pride is the ancient majestic royal palace of Sheki KHANS ERECTED IN THE 18-TH CENTURY WITHOUT A SINGLE NAIL(!).With magnificent  wall paintings and tracery windows in the stone citadel. We take friends to Gelersen-Gorersen fortress(8-9th centuries)Sheki is a major center of crafts. It has its own theatre, historical museum, house museum of THE AZERBAIJAN WRITER AND PHILOSOPHER M.F.AKHUNDOV Sheki Karavansaray is famous  and  very interesting hotel. We offer our friends to stay a week there AND FEEL THEMSELVES AS IN OLD TIMES. One day is a family day. Host families make very special program for this day.
