Board of Directors

The governing body of Friendship Force International is the Board of Directors, which meets regularly to set policies and guarantee that legal requirements and fiscal responsibilities are met. The Directors serve as volunteers and are either experienced Friendship Force International leaders or business and professional leaders from around the world.

Directors are elected for three-year terms and only one Director per class may be eligible for election to a second, consecutive term. Classes are staggered so that each year the terms of three Directors expire. The Directors elect a chairperson who serves a term of one year. The affairs of the Board are governed by bylaws adopted by a two-thirds majority of the Directors. The full Board meets two times each year, with Executive Committee meetings held additionally as needed.

The Board's policy is to respond to inquiries as a unified body. Issues raised in individual correspondence are grouped and summarized for Board review. The President of Friendship Force International communicates policies as adopted by the Board via a monthly Leadership Forum sent to Friendship Force Club Presidents. Beginning in 2003, the Board seeks to increase its breadth of communication to Friendship Force participants worldwide via this web-page, Friendship magazine and other appropriate forums.
