Mary Suther - FFI Board Member - Dallas, Texas

Mary has been a member of The Friendship Force of Dallas for 15 years and serves on the Dallas Board of Directors, in addition to her service on the Friendship Force International Board. Her main contributions have been centered in fund raising. She is active in doing anything that needs to be done (as do most members).

Mary served as the President and CEO of the Visiting Nurse Association of Texas, a home health and hospice organization serving over 8000 patients daily from 1983 until retirement in 2002. She increased the net worth of the organization considerably, increased the persons served, decreased costs, and increased volunteers to over 6000. She held positions in education, research, public health, school health, development (fund raising) and others.

She holds degrees from San Diego State University and the University of North Carolina and studied business at Furman University and Clemson University. She sits on the Board of Directors for the World Organization for Hospice and Home Care (a founding member and Treasurer), The National Association for Hospice and Home Care (a founding member and Chairman Emeritus), The Foundation for Hospice and Home Care (Chair), World Health Forum, and many others.

She has received the highest award from the National Association for Home Care, The Visiting Nurse Association of America and The Center for Non Profit Management, as well as many other awards. The areas in which she has published include: Continuity of Care, Process Improvement, Consumer Directed Care, Improving Both Quantitative and Qualitative Productivity in Health Care, Use of Technology in Home Care, Vertical and Horizontal integration and Mergers, Better Management of Non- Profit organizations, Fund Raising and other topics.
