Meet Sandra Larson

Sandra Larson, Kern County, CA.

Sandy and her husband George joined the Friendship Force of Kern County in 1992 in order to host ambassadors from Germany.  They have hosted numerous times, and served on many inbound and outbound exchange committees.  Sandy has been an Inbound ED twice and an outbound ED twice including organizing the additional post-exchange travel.  Prior to becoming a Field Representative, she attended four international conferences, participating in a panel on managing exchanges at the Budapest Conference. She has been the newsletter editor for their club for many years, and has had an article and pictures published in Friendship Magazine.
 
Professionally, Sandra began her career as a teaching assistant at UC, Berkeley, and then held various clerical and administrative assignments for the Kern County Superintendent of Schools, ultimately becoming Director of Personnel.  She is actively involved in SLWorks, a nonprofit group working with the Valley Fever Vaccine Project of the Americas. Her Community involvement has included, Rotary (Bakersfield East Rotarian of the Year in 2003), Shafter United Methodist Church, AAUW, California Association of School Administrators (receiving the Administrator of the Year for Personnel award in 1995), Kern County Civil Service Commission, and the Citizens Advisory Committee for Governmental Efficiency Chairman. Sandra received her BA, cum laude from University of Redlands and MA from Berkeley in German Literature. Sandra was born in 1940 in Chico, California, and is married to George Larson, a retired high school teacher, has two married children and four grandchildren.
