Robin

Meet Robin Mulholland - FFI Board Member - Glenelg, Australia

Robin, Board member since 1994 now in the last year of his term, is a very active Friendship Force member for his club in Adelaide, South Australia. After discovering Friendship Force in 1994 he became a very active member at all levels - Exchange Director, Club President and District Administrator as part of the Australian club structure. Robin still enjoys, very much, participating in both outbound and inbound exchanges and is committed to the ongoing growth of our wonderful organization.

At the age of 15 Robin emigrated from his place of birth, Belfast, Northern Ireland, to Australia. Because his family needed the money he went to work immediately in an iron foundry. Later his mother insisted he seek a government job, for secure tenure, and he joined Telecom, which was, at that time, the telecommunications monopoly in Australia. Over the following 33 years Robin progressed steadily within the company and, at retirement, was Human Resources Manager for South Australia and the Northern Territory, responsible for the well-being of some 9,600 people. After an early retirement Robin enjoyed a second career as a relationship educator with Centacare Family Services, the charitable arm of the Catholic Church, preparing young couples for marriage.

Born on St Valentine’s Day 1946 (and almost christened Valentine) he is married to Bobbie. They have four children and eight grandchildren. Robin’s other great interest is Australian Rules football. After playing the game at the top level for many years (coaching for a number of years, too) and having survived a couple of decades of combat, he now enjoys the game as a spectator.
