Meet Arifin Mochtar -

He was known as “Fin” by his American family. Arifin Mochtar spent a year during high school as an AFS exchange student in Bakersfield, California, graduating from East Bakersfield High School. The experience changed his life, and changed forever the way he saw the world. Years later, when The Friendship Force came to Indonesia, getting involved was natural for Arifin.
Arifin first became involved with The Friendship Force in 1995 as Co -Founder and Vice Chairman of the National organization. He has enjoyed hosting and leading exchanges between the countries of New Zealand, Australia, Belgium, Mexico and the USA.
Arifin was born in Pati, in the central portion of Java. As a child he attended Public Elementary (SR), Junior High (SMPN), and High Schools (SMAN) and had an early interest in history and geography.
Currently, Arifin Mochtar is the Director and owner of Afsari Almamater Professional, a company that markets quality American style rings to Universities and other institutions
For ten years preceding that Arifin worked in the fields of marketing, media relations, and assisted independent business owners in the areas of personal integrity, leadership and people skills which he feels are essential to develop and maintain good business relations.
He has served as a Marketing and Government Relations director; a project marketing manager and has an extensive background in social work. In that capacity he was active in setting up the early operations of Foster Parents Plan, work which included helping poor children and their families by adopting one child in a family as a Foster Child for a donor family abroad.
Arifin received the Doctorandus degree from the Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, faculty of Social and Political Sciences, major in International Relations Studies.
Arifin says he is easy to get along with, and enjoys communicating and working together with all kinds of people despite of their religion, personal beliefs, race, nationality, culture and rank. His most valued personal traits are honesty and friendship. He enjoys traveling domestically as well as abroad. Arifin is comfortable in western and eastern cultures; loves outdoor activities, especially fishing. In addition to Indonesian, Arifin is fluent is English and three Javanese dialects.
Arifin is married to Bariroh and they have four children, three sons and one daughter.
